Don't run a block guard, Sell it. I personally don't advocate running them and it has been proven the stock sleeves can handle over 500whp. If you plan to make more than that you should be sleeving anyways.

I will vouch for that. My stock LS motor is at 404hp right now. been running high HP for a while on the same engine. no sleeve and no block guard.

There can be some cooling issues, the sleeves could get out of round a bit if you don't bore it afterwards and on top of all, I don't think they do any good. I've seen sleeves crack with block guards and I've seen them crack without so they really don't solve any problems.

If you are going to do anything, go with sleeves. A block guard can be put in with a rubber mallot and you run into the issue of having one side in diff than the other, causing more stress. on the block vs. sleeving where its all exact.

I agree dont do it. Evans tuning built a GSR which made over 650whp on stock sleeves and ran it for 2 years without any problems the only reason they took they car down was to make more power!

So block guards are pretty much a waste of money giving builders a false sense of security thinking they can run harder and more boost.
