y8 vs y7

Is there any difference in the bottom end of the y7 and the y8?

d16y8 is vtec and the Y7 isnt

I think the y8 has a knock sensor, but other than that, I don't think so. Might want to ask here to be sure: D-series.org

the y7 has higher compression pistons, they are interchangable if thats what your asking.

No im just wondering would it be better to change the whole swap to a y8 or just put a y8 head on my y7 block
