first off its a 96 teg ls my stock muffler broke and was in the process of getting a aftermarket one. however, i had taken off the cat and replaced it with a testpipe and got custom 2 1/4 inch piping from the testpipe back to a flowmaster muffler (no resonator). the exhaust is too loudcould it be that there is no resonator. i need something quieter and will sound decent when im ripping it. im looking to just weld on a different muffler. what do you guys suggest i do. im really not looking for a whole new exhaust system. ive been looking at the apexi n1 mufflers and skunk2's.

 

well its your resonator, just get one put on or maybe someone know another way to make it quieter?

 

the resonator is before the muffler after testpipe. i dont think you can buy just a resonator.

 

true but you can go to the junkyard and cut one off a catback out there and get it welded back into your exhaust. I have one off my old exhaust but i dunno the size of the piping lol

 

also not having a cat will make your car louder, faster and dirtier.

what do you mean by dirtier. as in not passing emissions well i know that.

 

yea i looked at a resonator on ebay...its a vibrant 2.5 inch in/outlet resonator. im thinkin it will be perfect for it.
