Question booosting d series?

i found a compete turbo swap off a 99 eclipse gst. i want to know if i can use the manifold, turbo, and side mount on a d15 z1 w/ a y8 head. would it be worth it? i want to mount the intercooler in place of where the ac went. can i do that?

Well first off the manifold will not fit! Second its not worth it! if your interested in a turbo kit for that motor let me know, but i would go with a dohc if you really want to make some power! Hit me Up!

Not sure what turbo you are using. But you can use an HF manifold and all you will have to do is get an adapter plate that is made to bold to the HF manifold and Turbo. Pretty much any turbo you get you can use this manifold for.

If you don't have the money for a swap then you most likely don't have the money to do forced induction properly. instead of trying to cheaply piece together a turbo kit from random parts just to have a "turbo car" I would wait until you can afford a swap, then later down the road boost that. if not your going to end up with a unreliable and slow, kinda boosted car. just my 2 cents

^+1 i wanted to try this but before i even posted about it i decided not to because it wouldnt have been done right. if you dont have the money, time or resources to do it right then dont do it cause you'll end up regretting it

This all depends. If you have the full kit. I would say do it. Just do it. This all depends on the tune. Many people out here are running single cams turboed. There was a guy that I raced at the track with a single cam that ran low 11s. stock built. Just make sure invest in a tune. If you get a good engine management and have it tuned right. you wont see many issues.

just dont boost high if its not a fresh motor.

the amount of money you would spend on putting a swap in the car you could put into a single cam and be just as happy. i was happier than a pig in shit with mine. the d series motor is built stronger than a brick shithouse for a n/a motor. well my y8 was. i ran 14 pounds on a stock bottom end minus the arp rod bolts. im gonna get rid of my teggy and get another one to boost cause i liked it so much.
