tire size

Im running a 205/50/15 Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 and I fucking hate them no grip whatsoever. The have more gip in the rain than in the dry just about. Ive heard of some people running up to 215 and 225 however only certain offsets will be able to handle a tire that size and not rub and obviously it wont work if your car is slammed on its nuts.

Well right NOW the car is stock height (yuck) I plan on dropping it around 2 (kyb agx 5 ways neuspeed race springs). I think that the 205 will be ok... this will give me just enough traction plus the T1-Ss freakin rock from what I hear...
front: 205/45-15 nitto 555r drag radials
rear: 205/50-15 kumho ecsta 712s
I agree with Robster on the kumhos they make an excellent rear tire on the teg if you want the rear end to have a bit less grip than the front.
Forgot to mention that running the 205/45s up front will fuck with your speedo. the 205/50s are pretty close to stock height but a little wider which makes that size an excellent choice.

Bleh the Kuhmos are treating me just fine 205/45/16 they just need to get heated up a bit before they show any nice grip. As for rain traction....god I used to think they were good but after the last autocross where I ran in the rain Id have to say they suck some major ass.

the tread design of the kumhos is designed to keep tire temps and road noise down which makes it hard for them to get warm and also the fact that the tire is already a fairly hard compound makes it eveen harder to get them warm. If you want to know why speed daemon and I feel the way we do about these tires find a set of yokohama avs intermediates (kinda hard now since yoko discontinued them those fucking commy bastards) and you wont believe the amount of grip they have almost as much as a race tire yeah wet traction sucks with these things but who cares about wet traction?

205/50s work just fine. i have toyo fz4(or something like that) and have had no problems. they do rub if you turn all the way. nothing to worry about though.

if you dont mind me asking what are the specs when they list something like 195/55/15? i know 15 would be the radius of the rim. i dunno what 195 stands for but i think 55 stands for the psi of the tire? can anyone clarify this?
On my old car i use to run 195 50 15 Bridgestone RE 910s I liked the tires because they were soft and gripped really good in the dry and had an asymetric tread pattern that was good in the rain also. On the down side the were only a T rated tire so they were only safe up to 118 mph. On my new car I have 16s but if I went back to the 15s I would still go with the 195s just because in the 50 side profile it is lower than the 205s. If you can afford it Michelin makes a great tire in the 205 50 15 size in the MXX3 model. Its a V rated tire so it safe i think up to 148 mph but they are expensive. I am currently running the MXX3s but in 205 45 16 and I love these tires. The compound is hard as hell and the take some heating up to get them sticky but once up to temp.
S rated 112mph
T rated 118 mph
H rated 130 mph
V rated 148 mph
Z rated 148+ mph
ZR rated 148+ mph (but cna handle the heat for a longer period of time than the Z rated
now they are comming out with W and Q ratings and Im not sure what they are about but from what I have seen first hand the W rated ones try to imitate the V rated tires but the suck ass in quality.
