Default Honda Prelude Questions

My nephew got ahold of a 92 Prelude with a H23 motor swap. My question is what is the best and safest way to mod these motors. I know nothing of these motors so I'm looking for any info that might help. Things like is it safe to boost in a stock motor (Low psi's of course) and if so how much can it take. How much hp is the block safe for before rod failure. Things like this. Thanks in advance.

The cool thing about the H23, is its a closed deck block. So they can stand a little more. Not sure how much HP you want to do, But if its an older motor, I dont suggest going to much on the boost. Maybe 8psi to keep it safe on the street if he plans on driving it all the time.

Also how accurate is this comment. I'm guess the H22 would be a better choice.

"The vtec motor has stronger parts then the non vtec, the internals are balanced while the non vtec motor is not.
The reason for this makes the H22 a better N/A motor then the H23.
The H22 is going to have stronger parts and a more stable application for high rpms with a higher compression.
The reason Honda is able to run vtec on a car like they do is the build on the motor. The rods and crank are strong enough to handle 350 hp easy while only producing a 190 hp rating to the flywheel.
They also balance the internals to handle the high rpms.

If your going for a all out turbo car run the JDM DOHC F22 replace the rods and pistons and girdle the sleeves.
I ran this setup for a year on a good tun running 10 psi on mid grade gas making well over 300whp.
I had my crank knife edged and micro polished.I bought a set of heavy eagle rods and had them balanced and a nice set of turbo pistons.

I had my trans rebuilt with a very close ratio very similar to the B16 trans.
No very good top end but it was a monster out of the gate and would top out about 145."

Well there is no doubt about it, that the H22 is a better motor. But if you plan on boosting the H23 for now, i would suggest not going too big on a stock motor if its driven every day.

Yea I think we'll just try to find a H22. Thanks for the info.
