Question power

what is the best set up for the most power for d15 with a y8head. short ram or full intake, header, and what kind of exhaust should i run? how2 much of a difference will it make if i put on a aftermarket intake manifold and a vtec controller?

if you put the y8 head on it you MUST either get a vtec controller and get it tuned or get a vtec ecu and get it tuned. or you will have less power than a non-vtec motor!

let that soak in a lil bit and ill be back after to school to answer a lil more.

edit: i just noticed that its a z1 bottom end...throw that away or change the pistons if you want anything resembling power. IF yer running a z1 with a y8 head and no tune you are making like 25 hp right now.

the z1 bottom end has pistons that are curved in. see the pic in the link below. that with the y8 is gonna give you a really low compression ratio. thats not good for making power. you need to get rid of that block or at least the pistons. once that is done then yes, intake, header, and exhaust will help free up some power. you can get a lightened flywheel too if you got the cash, PLEASE do not get a stage 3 clutch if your not making 500hp. stage 1 or even stock replacement. can add some NO2 if you want a lil more of a kick. whatever you do get it tuned before you drive it. thats about it without boost. good luck
