If you wanted to for some reason have your intake facing the front of the car and exhaust the rear would it be as simple as swapping the manifolds cams and changing the cam timing 180 degrees? Assuming the ports were the same would it work??

But sometimes I wonder...

Why would you want to do this? Honda Engines ROTATE backwards and changing the timing 180 degrees? That wouldnt change the rotaion of the motor (I dont think...) so the cams would still be all fucked up.

I dont see why the rotation would matter If you had the cam timing swapped the piston is still going down on the intake stroke drawing in air from wherever its available valves are closed for compression power strokes and then the piston is sill going up for the exhaust stroke and since there would be valves open at appropriate times the gasses would go out right? I have no clue why someone would want to do this but I was curious why this coulndt be done.

I believe that it has been done before and is used in someones race engine. The benefit is to have the intake closer to the front of the car thus not taking all the HOT air into the intake. My only problem is I cant remember who had this setup.

No it hasnt been its assine.
What youre confusing this with is on some of the drag racing cars the ENTIRE engine has been taken out and rotated 180 degrees thereby placing the intake manifold in front. One of the benifits is that youve got less tubing to pressurize which reduces turbo lag.

I thought their engine was turned 90 degrees The only thing is if you turned the entire engine you would have to have a custom-made tranny unless you wanted one foreward gear and 5 for reverse. I honestly think it would work. As long as the porting and valve size/placement was right it makes sense.
