V tec engine in a Classic Mini No power when warm
Hello
This is my 1st post on the Honda side, Sorry I only know German cars.
My GF has a 70s Classic mini with the Honda Vtec conversion. Its engine is from a 2000 Civic si. The car has been running great, the car really goes.
Last month it was rearended and it spent a few weeks at the shop getting the rear end replaced. The gas tank was also damaged and was replaced. The car has a aftermarket fuel pump, it was clear of the damaged area.
The car has been running well for 3 weeks then it died a few days ago. It had no power at all. I figured out the body shop repainted the inside of the trunk and the ground. So it lost ground. I fixed this and the car now will start right up.
When its cold it runs ok. you can drive the car, rev the engine ETC. Once it gets warm the idle get rough, but not to bad.
But when you try to rev the engineit stumbles. The engine will not rev up, If you try to give it gas the engine will stumble and stall out.
On the german cars the OX sensor will do this. You can unhook it and the car will go into a loopback mode and run ok. Will the Hondas do the same?
I also did a search and I see that the Temp sensor RE water temp could be at fault?
Is there any thing else I should look at.
Thanks.. Its the White mini..

If you have no check engine light function, let me know and I can fix that right up. I do a lot of work for mini guys in ATL.
No check engine light. All guages are VDO.
Also did some testing, if I shut off the car - ignition then restart I can rev the engine for about 30 sec then it goes back to the no power and engine stumbles.
Ill go out and buy a manual for that engine. I have no clue re how to test these sensors. I know on the BMWs you can test voltage or resistance.
Or she may just want it fixed. So who can fix this quickly. Id be OK with getting the check engine light working. OR something that can give the codes.
thanks

Good luck trouble shooting that with minimal starting point. What ecu are you running?
sounds ALOT like my MAP problem, unplug the sensor on the top of the throttle body, it will pop the check engine light on and the car will run better, if thats the problem
if you're going to be home tomorrow call me, i'm off and i can swing by
