Default Help with taking fan off direct

I have a 94 integra and the cooling fan is ALWAYS on as long as the battery is connected...its actually drained my battery already once...my question is how do I temporarily take the fan off direct until I can get a hold of a relay?
Would it make sense to just set up a cut off switch?

thanks...

just wire the fan to a switch. flip it on once the motor starts warming up, and flip it off when you shut off the car.
