i have a 5speed 97civic Dx but am thinking if i can convert it to automatic i will give it to my girl sinse i rebuild the motor i no it will last can it be done or is there Ecu wireing and shit

everything will bolt up and you will need to add to the harness or change it. best to just pull the dash and change the whole harness. that auto shit goes from the fuse box to the cluster to the ecu, shifter and a good chunk of the under hood harness. you dont have to reweld anything like you would in an eg. and the pedal assembly "might" be missing a bolt or too but it'll be sturdy enough.

(i think in the ek you need a lil of the under hood chassis harness too)
shift cable
i think even the intake manifold is differant
auto ecu setup
cluster (if you wanna see the P,R,N,D4,D3,D2,D1)


with all that figured in....it'll be easier to swap that long block into somthing automatic

it'll be alot easier if you dont do it the "right way"


cut the auto part of the harness out and zip tie it in yer car splice a few wires into the harness thats already there. dont put the wires to the cluster, theyre not worth it, cut a new hole for the shift cable. change the engine harness and idle controller, and be done.

but i have a feeling that you wanted to do it the right way.
