My lil bro hasnt decided yet but is thinking about doing a ls/v. And i read somewhere about how you need the right connacting rods so that the pistons wont hit the head in high rpm. Which connecting rods should be used??

 

u can use the stock LS rods with a Stock LS crank and he will be fine... but my suggestion is change the pistons to PR3(USDM) or P30(JDM) b16 pistons it will be worth it in the end. Also get ARP rod bolts for the connecting rods its VERY HIGHLY recommended unless u want to be rebuilding ur block alot sooner that you normal would. He doent need aftermarket rods also he can just shot peen the stock rods the LS/VTEC will only produce around 175-210ish HP (Depending on supporting mods)and the LS rods will be sufficent

 

ok so he can use the stock rods and use b16 pistons... and what is shot peen???

 

a process that a machine shop does to help strengthen the rods and costs around 60 bucks at the machine shop, well worth it when he goes to press the pistons on the rods and rebuilds or rehones the cylinders

 

oook now of any good machine shops.. and wat if he uses ctr pistons???

 

shotpeen or glasspeen is not needed,use that moeny else where.if this is a street car dont bother with Ctr pistons stick with Pr3 b16 pistons.

 

if you want to invest money in some pistons go to Hmotors and order the type R pistons for like 200$
