The VVTL-i kicking in is like a small turbo hitting it will bring nothing but smiles.

Put it this way my 180HP can almost keep with a Type R. I could beat one if the driver wasnt very good thats for sure! ;D

Id give it 6 months for suspension and minor bolt on parts and a LOT longer for anything above that. This motor is new from the ground up and its going to take time to find its strengths and weaknesss. Look at the Celica GTS guys theres not much for that fantastic motor available.

Yes a GT-S can keep up with a Type R of course it depends on what mods you have done to both.

I agree that the cam switch in the GT-S is too high if I could get it lowered 500rpm then it would make a world of difference! The switch is a little more subtle than a turbo doesnt jerk or anything...just over about 200 rpms the engine starts pulling a lot harder. The probelm is that Toyota wont release any secrets in cracking the ECU of the cars and apparently the code and electronics of the engine are very complicated.

Every GTS owner has been wishing for a VVTL-i controller since the cars came out. No one yet has been able to produce it.
