Default civic 03 help

hey i need some advice , we changed the oil in my girls' car; but we didnt noticed the oil filter was missing the round gasket ( oil started leaking during all night), so she drove it today and noticed the oil light went off , she drove it for a lil more and then the car shut down while driving .... then we discovered the palce who sold us the filter gave us a defective one ( w/o gasket) .. got a new filter, put oil in it again , but car wont start anymore .... did the engine blow? i heard hondas got something that shuts off the engine before it blows .... please any info would be helpful .. thanks a lot ...

Honda engines operate with the oil pressure around 50psi at startup, 25 at idle, and 75 at WOT. The Honda oil light comes on when your oil pressure drops to 4psi. Thats 4, down from 25-75. It basically means "Your engine is now fucked. Have a good day." Maybe if she had shut it off the second it came on it would have been ok, but I'm relatively sure you should be in the market for a new engine. At the very least, her rings are gone and her compression is way down.

Oh I know

I just like being pessimistic. If you think the worst is always going to happen, the worst you'll ever be is right, and most of the time you're relieved.
