Default 00 Civic sedan w/b18c1

So I'm about to trade a vehicle for this car.

Any good ways I can identify what year GSR the motor came from?

I looked through the FAQ and wasn't able to locate info on how I can identify what model the civic is via the VIN to identify what model it is to find out the gear ratios. I was told it's the stock civic 5speed mated to the b18c1.

It's got a stockish intake, stock header, and straight thru exhaust with a ractive muffler. Lowered on Tokico shocks and super sport springs. Not the fastest thing I've driven in a while. Actually, 170hp feels slow to me now, but my last fast car was a 400whp 350z.

How does this motor respond to moderate increases in ignition timing and some fiddling with adjustable cam gears on stock cams? That sort of thing even worthwhile with stock cams?

Thanks guy.

i don't think it could be the stock civic transmission, as the d series transmission doesn't fit on a b series engine

i found this site linked on one of the other threads, Fatboy Raceworks Transmission Gear Ratio Calculator - Honda/Acura & More

as for the year, last time i talk to someone about it, they said there are production dates on the blocks that are stamped on, i couldn't find a website with that info though

Thanks Xiwei.

I'll have to put it up on ramps and try to find some identification markings on the trans. He told me it was the stock civic trans, but if D doesn't bolt to B, that's obviously not possible.

I'll look for the VIN stamp on the motor too as that should tell me what year it is, I think.

It'll have to be tomorrow tho, we're doing the trade tonight.

Xiwei, looks like I got some more info. It's a 2000 LX. b18C1 out of a 99-00 gsr, stock GSR trans. Stock LX cluster (need to get a gsr cluster, I think) and I'm thinking GSR ecu. He's not sure about the harness, does know the harness was hacked, so he's thinking it's the stock LX harness.

Also, tokico shocks, tokico blue springs, the street version, he said.

Anyways, I dogged it. Shifted at like 6krpm, so I doubt it'd been fully woken up at that point. I'll find out later when we make the trade

dude, it feels so slow. Of course, I didn't rev it out, but still, it feels SLOOOOW! My 04 v6 accord could smoke it, me thinks.

It is slow, but then so was your 350z, at least compared to something with more than twice its power.
All things are relative.

true.

anyways, the ac doesn't blow cold. tried to charge it up but I have no gauges to test the pressure or anything else. Might be the compressor is frozen because I occasionally get a whirring/whooshing noise from the belt area when stopped. It's getting pretty frequent now but every now and then at a light it won't happen.
