Default stroked b16

ok i read in a magazine that you can use the LS crank and rods in a b16 block. Amazingly I am going to try it. Anyone think its a good idea?

Should work out fine as long as you don't put the head on it.
Seriously, the only way it would work would be with custom pistons with raised pins. The b16 block is about a third of an inch shorter in height than the LS.

will not work im sorry, the crank will not even clear a b16 block meaning it will not even spin in there do to the stroke being way to long it will hit each side, dont know where you read that but its wrong

i dont need to but im just telling you,you cant use a ls/or even gsr crank in a b16 ,the most i would say you can storke a b16 is like 84mm 90 is to much maybe the artical was useing a b16b typeR crank and rods

It works, you have to notch the bottom of the cylinders. but it works. With ls length rods the wrist pin is pushed up high into the middle of the oil ring (ARIAS has these pistons as a shelf piston BTW). Every setup I've known about with these types of pistons has oil control issues. The solution would be to get pistons with the ring package pushed up as high as feasible and the wrist pin moved up as well but not into the oil ring. Then use a custom length rod.

All of this is way too much work because ls blocks are cheaper better solution than stroking a b16.

how can this work Kj?you would have to cut into the whole black to make the balancer from not hitting it im trying to look at it right now i got a ls crank in there and cant even spin it without it hit the sides even the gsr crank comes close but no luck

+1 for kj. i read the article too. it works but they did say custom pistons and rods was how you would have to make it work. so yes you would have your b16 with the same displacement as an ls, but the rod/stroke ratio would b all off and im not sure how it would run. just get a gsr block n stuff ls internals in it if you want to.
