block weight
I know that it would be a bad idea to drop an H22 into a civic because it would cause a wicked
understeer but how about a B20 into a CRX??? Whats the weight difference between the B18
and B20 blocks?

the b20 and b18 share the same block. b20 blocks are just a b18 block resleeved to 84mm pistions and 2.0 crank. so the weight would only be a couple pounds. no more than 30lbs if that.

You start looking around for CRV cranks and see how much its gonna cost you. I believe the blocks if you can even find one go between $1200-$1500 plus your gonna want a B17 crank those are $750 and of course pistons rods and a Vtec head thats another $800-$1300. As opposed to an LSVTEC where you can get a block for $200-$400 and a head for $500- $1000. And some nice pistons for $400 or so. Both blocks will need a litle machine work and the right ECU. But LS VTEC is cheaper. And CRV blocks are rare to find. However I believe the head ache and money is worth it. You could acomplish your goals w/ the LS Vtec and put money in other places.
