Default DA axle differences

are there differences in DA axles?

i bought a set of 90-93 integra axles off of wolfenr1984 and they're in really good shape, but one of the axles is smaller then the other

one of them the splin on the actual shaft is the same as my b20 and H22 axles, but the other one is smaller and the splines on the b20 and h22 axles are too large for the shaft

whats the deal?

one is driver side and one is passenger side, but would that make a difference?

they both looked the same length and they came out of the same car, why would the splines be different?

Drivers side and Passenger side axels are different from each other. as the Splines are not the same length. the Drivers side axel has "longer" Splines than the passenger side.

I found this out when doing my swap and i got them mixed up and tried putting the passenger side into the driver side....it WILL NOT FIT...but the driver side one will go into the passenger side....

hope this made some kind of sense, i dunno if this answers your question either....but that is the differences betweeen them....

no, its not the length, its the thickness

the splines on one axle are the same size as my B20 and H22 outboard joints, in referance to diameter

and on the other axle, the diameter of the splin is smaller, so when i put my outboard joint on the axle, it physically sits down over the spline, but the teeth of the spline don't catch, so i can rotate them seperately where it should rotate as one unit

so one is beefier, so to speak, its a heavier duty axle, it has a larger shaft and larger splines, the same as the prelude ones, but the other shaft is smaller, did that make sense?

ok, do you know how the outboard joints on axles work?

not the inboard joint that is easy to take apart, but the outboard one you have to beat off with a hammer

there is a male spline on the actual shaft, and a female spline on the outboard joint

if i use one axle(larger spline) with one of my prelude outboard joints, they go together and make a solid connection and are as one unit

but if i use the other axle(smaller spline) with one of my outboard prelude joints, when i put them together they don't lock and become as one, i can spin the joint and the shaft in opposite directions, the teeth of the spline aren't the same size

thanks alot for your help, i'm just trying to figure out what the difference is so i can get my axles done up

EDIT: i never said outboard originally, sorry
