Default K20 R worth the extra money ??

been looking around and k swaps and was wondering if paying the extra money for a K20 ITR motor instead of just getting the k20a2/k20z3?

i know the ITR motor has the LSD and more power.

here are the 2 i was looking at

k20R

K20a2

**heres the twist. if i buy the k20a2, i dont get that left over money to mod the car per the wife. she would just want an engine in and thast it so there another reason to go with the R engine**

I'd get the R, you get the diff, the cams, and the extra compression. With that bottom end you could make good power with only having to do work in the head, you won't have to worry about pulling the tranny in the future to put a diff in, ect.

so the R would be worth it especially since i plan to stay NA. it seems like the perfect setup and worth the extra money.

me personally id get the k20a2..the hp difference isnt enough imo ..that 1500 could easily buy u a diff to put in before u install the motor and give u about 800 to use toward building the head and for the same money spent have a more power k20a2..thats just what id do though..i dont care if its says type r on it or not..price/performance is my concern..

it would be nice not to have to bother with having the LSD installed. after i buy the diff and pay for the install, that will be most of that $1500 plus the extra downtime. also the better cams and higher compresion motor.

I go with the K20a2 as well. That extra money could go towards mounts, axles, etc.. If your staying NA you should be looking to upgrade to a 2.4 bottom end so the K20R block would just be sold. As the other post stated you could buy a better diff. To me 1500 dollars is alot of money that can be better spent getting the car running.

im still thinking about it. i dont want to do the k24 bottom end. id like to leave the motor pretty much stock and i dont want to mod it much thats why im thinking the R may be the best for what im looking for.
