k so i had this setup on my ls motor and finally brought it over to my ls vtec setup and i was again pleasently suprised!!! its nothing major but the effects on your power band are definately worth the dollar.
get urself some adjustable cam gears n heres what u do. make sure the motor is at tdc with the #1 cylinder. with the valve cover off stick a small screw driver in the holes above the cams to keep then from turning. pull the old cam gears off n put the new ones on set at 0 on the intake n 0 on the exhaust (for now). set the intake cam to +2 and the exhaust at -1 (or 0 ) if u dont feel like messin with it. tq down the bolts on the gears n then jump ur ecu to set the distributor timing. set the dizzy at 18 degrees btdc ( i think its the red line on the pully). un jump the ecu n have some fun!!!
power gains are minimal but the boradness of the power was noticed. the car pulls harder in lower rpms (mainly b4 vtec) and vtec engaugement is much more noticeable. the car pulls past redline now n feels like it has much more to go (my rev limit is set at 8300 rpm). there may be a small gain in hp up top due to the increased over lap u create when opening the intake cam earlier. i set my ex cam at -1 so i get slightly more over lap form that too. all in all i say it was worth it. may not be a complete dyno tune but its a sligh tune on the cams. its a good place to start tho. just thought id share the knowledge with you. kenji (if u kno him) recomended the setup and he said it would "wake the car up" and BOY DID IT!! k thats all. hope u like!

butt-dynoing is a poor way of tuning, and if VTEC has a more noticable changeover you aren't maximizing it
EDIT that came out sounding like a real asshole, not trying to be mean, just telling you a couple things

any criticism is welcome man no hard feelings. if i didnt trust what kenji tells me i wouldnt have posted it. but he was right in what he said. just wanted to share. i probably was not maximizng vtec b4 bc the basemap im running is incredibly rich. when i advanced the dizzy it probably helped that a little bit. im in the process of getting tuned. ive got the wideband its just not in. so thats a step in the right direction.

and i realize that ur really not supposed to feel a large difference when vtec crosses over (at least when its tuned right). what im simply saying is that once it gets into the meat of the secondary lobe, it definately pulls much harder (6500-8000 rpm). not that once vtec kicks in it jumps ahead 5 cars. again its far from a real tune but a good place to start. if anything itl take less time on the dyno to fully tune the cams.
