Default Poor mans TYPE-R

i have a fully worked b16 head crower ctr+ cams dual spring and titanium retainers. port and polish, three angle valve job, 30 thousands milled off.
Now my question is i have this head and a friend of mine wants me to do a gsr bottom end and use my p30 pistons in it. another friend said use the ls crank and rods but i am definantly not doing that what i wanna know is it worth the say 600.00 bucks to buy the gsr bottom end or should i just rebuild my b16 and use the 500.00-600.00 for it. The thing i like about doing the gsr bottom end is the compression will be high 12's
LMK WHAT YOU OPINION IS

Don't ever waste the time building an NA 1.6L. Always go for the bigger motor when doing N/A builds.

so u think it would be better to just buy a 1.8l and build it instead of useing that money on my b16. Also what kindda power will i gain NA and torque aproxx? and what are the benifits? and is it just going to be put my pistons on the gsr crank and rods or is there going to be any mods i will have to do??

thanks

your pistons from your b16 if 99-00 have a smaller dome then the ones on the gsr block......if you want best bang go ls vtec, bore it to 82mm with itr pistons, some arp head/rod bolts, polish the crank and throw in all new bearings and you got a nice setup to match your head and still have money left to spend

b16 pistons have more dome than gsr pistons - quite a bit more in fact.
If the dollars are going to work out the same, it's a no-brainer. The gsr bottom is the way to go for the extra stroke, bore over the b16.
Lots of variables, but figure about 6 to 8 lbs of extra torque and 10-12 more hp depending on which pistons you end up going with.

Why would he put gsr pistons in there when it already has P30 pistons?

i like ur idea about 82 mm n/a pistons rangcrx. rs machine makes a type r copy piston in 82mm version. and its usually cheaper then the real r piston too. dont go gettin a b20 block bc the sleeves are known to be weak. i recently did the ls vtec n i LOVE IT! in fact, a friend of myne has a pretty decently built gsr n i always jump a car n a half or so right off the 3rd honk. the extra 2mm stroke is a definate plus.

simply put....follow the adivse of the poster above me. he knows his stuff.
