If you used the stock turbo that comes with that kit it also doesnt gain ALOT of power either. The stock kit will get you to 160-180. And maxxes out with tuning at around 240. The more power you make, the less reliable the car becomes on the stock bottom end. Then again, there is a d16z6 making 400 whp on the stock bottom end. Its the only one ive ever seen, but it is ALL in the tune.

I put the kit on but tuned by John Vega. By the way it made 240/225 at recent dyno day. The Greddy kit works.

I used to wonder the same thing. Like which single cam is better to boost Y8, Z6 or A6 (i know A6 is Non-Vtec). But I used to think about stuff like that when I had my CRX. Interested in knowing more info as well. TTT.

Well if your going for a bone stock longblock, the z6 has slightly lower compression. and would possibly be easier to tune. However the y8 has a better flowing intake manifold. If your building them up then the bottom end isnt a big issue, new pistons, rods, and some sort of block guard/fill/sleeve will probably negate any difference they have. The thing youd be more interested in are the heads. The vtec heads will flow better and provide better top end power stock for stock.
