Exclamation Getting more power out of a D16

Hey guys whats up. I got a d16y8 and i am looking to get some more power of out it. I am looking to spend about 800 dollars and dont wanna do turbo or nitrous. I have been looking about and seen some stuff do and just wanna get some other people thoughts. this is what i planned on getting.

B18 Throttle Body.
Bigger Intake manifold
Header
Intake
exhaust
Obd1 conversion and tuning

what do you think of the power gains i would get outta this. Or do you guys have any other thoughts on what i should do.

Thanks

You're off to a good start there but, that intake manifold and throttle body will not necessarily make a difference with these mods. The Y8 manifold is a decent design. Instead of those two I would look toward a cam.

...but, you've got the right idea

Ya i really dont want to go into the bottom end. I was thinking of a stage one or two cam and cam gear. But would i be able to run a cam with stock vauletrain. and how much power would that really get me.

zex makes a great d16 cam (59300)that you can run the stock valve train on. Due to it making all of its power before redline, there is no need for valve springs or retainers. Some run the shims and rev closer to 8000rpm. Exospeed - Performance Parts for the Motor Enthusiasts also has some WILD cams, that would be your best bet.

head work
cam
header
exhaust
tune
etc.
should be a fun quick daily

That $800 could get most of a homemade turbo kit and actually make power. Those mods listed will make minimal gains. Shame to spend all that time and money for 20 to 30 hp MAX.
