Does anyone know why these lighted gauges keep going on and off? Mostly off. Is it a loose connection or do they just wear out like neon and flourescent lights.

 

I use good quality connectors and the proper crimping tool
and have never had that happen.

Avoid the stick-wire-in-the-slot-and-fold-connector-shut type connectors. Those are good temporarily if you are connecting trailer lights
temporarily, but I have seen wires work loose.

its a typical problem on preludes. Ive never actually taken one apart to see if its a loose wire kinda like the solder joints on the main relays or if the EL light burns out.

I jsut replaced it with a nother one. My girls is out too.

also, it seems to be doing it when its cold out. WHen it was warm it was working fine. And when it got colder it would start Dim and get brighter over time. Possibly electrical solder joint expanding or cntracting. Ill open it up some day this week and take a peek
