problem Filling tranny with fluid
Im helping a friend replacec the clutch on her del sol and when we got the tranny off, we drained all the old fluid out of it. Now that the clutch is replaced, we took out the speed sensor to fill the tranny with new fluid, and as we were poring the new fluid in, it started pouring out of the holes for the axles. Do the axles have to be in to fill it up with fluid? Is it normal? When we pulled the axles out and the tranny off, it never leaked out of the axle holes. Any ideas?

Install the tranny & axles, then fill the tranny.

yes, the axles have to be in it for it to hold fluid. if you drained the old fluid before removing the axles, then thats the reason it didnt pour out.
You can put the car on jack stands, fill untill the fluid starts to run out of the axles, install axles back in and reinstall tires, lower, done. The lowest part of where the axle sits in the tranny is flush with the actual filler hole on the tranny which means if it drains out the axles you are full anyway.

lol it prolly poured out when you added some because it didn't need anymore. put the axles in and (if b-series) pour in 2.5 quarts through the rubber cover thing (i think its like a breather or something) in the front of the tranny by the block.
