bypass valve??

Default bypass valve??

ok, i want to buy a cold air intake for the 98 hatch i just bought and i wanted to know if a bypass valve is really necessary, also is there any difference between the aem and the "ebay" ones besides the price?

buy a short ram intake. the bypass valve will save your engine from hydro lock, but negate any performance gains. a short ram intake will give you the most noticeable increase in hp, compared to a cai with a bypass valve. if you don't believe me, and get the cai any ways, then do yourself a favor and get one with a bypass valve. i gambled and lost once already. just my .02

I would go with a short ram as well.. its not worth risking it especially the way it rains here..

I heard stock intakes w/ a drop-in K & N filter produce the same power as a short ram intake and look 100x cleaner.
