Default ? for people that know about A/C

I have a 98 Acura CL and the only way to get the A/C to kick on is jump the relay. Any ideas on what the problem can be?

It's actually my mother-in-law's car. She had it at a shop and they couldn't figure it out. So I assumed they checked that. If they didn't I'm going to kick that mechanic in the balls.

Sounds like a bad relay.

Did she have it at Bubba's Mechanix Shop or did she take it to a Honda/Acura dealership?

hey buddy it might be underfilled don't run it too long when you jump the relay you are jumping all the security mesures, leaving your compressor runing with no refrigeran an no oil. Get it to a real shop. A good tech will be able to figure it out.

Recharging the system was the first thing done. I'm thinking it's either the relay or the pressure switch. I'm going to pick up a manual and read up on it.
