why would this happen?

Default why would this happen?
coolant gauge drops almost to the bottom when driving them goes slowly back to where it should at a stop. is this a bad thermostat or maybe bad fan switch? its a 99 gsr. thanks

let your car cool down, then turn it on and open the hood and watch for the fa to come on. It should come on before the car comes to running temp
