To Catback Or Not To CatBack!?
I'd say if it's too loud that your most likely loosing back pressure. If it were my car I'd get a resonated cat, then run 2.25 to the axle flange and it should quiet it down as well as give you a little more "Uhmp" on your low end. Just my .02. I have a one piece greddy header, home made test pipe running to a Apexi WS1 cat back and it's quite as fawk! You actually hear the motor over the exhaust. Just my .02! Either good luck with your decision.

Don't take life so serious. It's not like were getting out of it alive anyway.

the muffler it self pays a huge factor in the sound of your exhaust!
If you have a riced out cheap muffler its going to sound ricey
2.25 piping will be a bit louder but if you have a resonator and a good q/a muffler it should produce a nice clean sound
PS: Please dont put a tilt to the muffler! Thats just plain rice!

Yeah but your whole car is the DEFINITION of rice.

I have heard some nice exhausts sound really crappy and I have just a muffler on my daily go getter and it sounds good for some reason. I have a full system on my project car and its an Apexi and it sounds ricey but I am making some changes in hopes that it will sound better with a deeper tone.
