Help with b16 ef

Default Help with b16 ef

I just put a b16a1 in my 91 dx civic and every thing is hooked up into the ecu the injectors, knock sensor, vtec, and distributer. but it will not pass 3000 rpms. does any one know what this could be?

is ur speed sensor working and does the ecu have a 2 step set? if the speedo reads 0 and u have a 2 step then thats where the rev limit will b. other than that ihave no idea y u cant go past 3k....

the ecu is in limp mode.

The guy that I bought my car from had this same problem when putting my car together I'll give him a call in a bit. IIRC it was ignition wiring running to the gauge cluster.


EDIT: I just talked to him and it was the coil. He was having the same exact problem as you are.

the coil shouldnt stop it from reving past 3k...I have seen 2 coils go bad and they either stop the car from running period or it will run fine.

Sure you already checked this, but my Crx did this. After replacing the plug wires & dizzy we found one of the old ones was missing the metal piece on the end.

i have had this happen and all it was when i wired up the distributer from dual point to multi point i had the white wires backwards i switched them and then it was fine try that
