A friend of mine has 1988 Prelude SI 2.0. He is thinking about shaving the head. Does any body knows how much he needs to shave? Do you guys think this will be a good idea? Thanks in advance for your input.

 

.010 would be nice just for a cleaning. Some people go as much as .040 on honda heads but with the B20A5 that the prelude had had a very poor rod/stroke ratio. I wouldnt bother raising the compression on it.

 

Could you explain to me why poor rod/stroke ratio wont benefit from shaving the head. What honda will benefit from shaving the head?

 

It is going to benefit of course but it is not worth it due to the strength of these motors. They are know to throw rods all the time and incresing the horsepower output with such methods as shaving the head could help increase this problem.

 

Well velocityGSR pretty much said what I was going to say. Let me just add that unless a motor rebuild is in order I would stay away from millin the head due to the age of the components themselves.
