just bought an 88 prelude got a great price but the motors been apart (head off) for god knows how long. the cylinders and block look ok but the cams are in the trunk and some of the lobes are corroded. also is $800 a reasonable price to reassemble the top half?

If the lobes are deteriorated take them to a machine shop to get them cleaned up before hand. If you are mildly skilled mechanically you can put it together yourself. Youll need a set of wrenches a torque wrench a full set of sockets and ratchets and a few other things. Buy the factory service manual (the real Helms one 65 bucks) do it yourself and save yourself a LOT of money. Its really not that difficult especially if you have the service manual it spells it out exactly how to do it practically word for word. 800 bucks is far too much roughly double what you should be charged.
