Exhaust Manifold
I been noticeing some noise coming out from my engine bay. When I went to look under the hood I noticed that one of the bolts on the manifold was loose. So I started tightening it. Well it just kept turning and turning an then I noticed that the Bolt was actually coming off the head. My question is how did it come off and How hdo i fix it

Exhuast or intake? not that it matters it will be the same fix..
Things to buy:
-new gaskets to whatever it is
-helicoil kit
-little T-bar tool that attaches drill bits so you can turn by hand
($30 for everything)
You have to remove the manifold.. Then what you are doing is rethreading the the head (UNLESS THE BOLT IS JUST BROKEN WHICH THEN YOU WILL HAVE TO DRILL IT OUT)...
After you rethread the head you insert this coil thing into the new threaded hole and the same bolt (I recommend buying a new one for a couple bucks).. and torque to specs.. It is really easy if there is easy access to the bolt.. Lets say enough to stick a drill in the area you are working...

No its not the gasket. I found where it was leaking and started to turn the bolt. As I was turning the stud just kept coming. Its sticking out further thanm the rest when I decided to stop and think things through. I think that the stud is comimg off the block

Prelude have you gotten a chance to fix it yet? It probably just needs one of the helicoils to get a good grip again.

Did the stud break off from the head or did it just unscrew itself?
In your first article you said
So I started tightening it. Well it just kept turning and turning an then I noticed that the Bolt was actually coming off the head
My question is if you were tightening it how the hell was it worming its way out? Even if it did bust I dont see how tightening it would make it come out. Are you sure you were turning it the right way?
If it just unscrewed a little loc-tite and a new stud would be all you need. It might also be a good idea to get a thread tap of the right size (size of the bolt) and clean any debris out of the hole.
If it broke off then you would need a bit extractor that you can buy at places like Ace Hardware (good store for parts by the way) and what ES said a helicoil kit. Still though you stated at in your post that it was coming loose when you tightened it so you probably dont need a bit extractor. Care to better explain just what is wrong with the stud? Youve got me all sorts of confused.
