Default Clutch or Tranny?

So heres the story...

Whenever im in high rpms, say around 6-7k...and im shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear, i sometimes cant even get into the gear. Most of the time it grinds horribly. 2nd and 5th gears do it sometimes too.

BUT...If i let the rpms drop down about 2krpms before slamming the gear, it goes in ok.

...SO could this be the Clutch or the tranny? Remember when i let the rpms drop a little, it goes in ok. I want to know before i drop the tranny.

Help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Try running some GM Synchromesh in the tranny, shit cures cancer son.

Btw- doesnt sound like your clutch is the problem, do the gears grind at all in low rpm?

My old LS tranny did that and when I took it apart I could see the syncros were all worn down pretty bad.

Ive heard about the GM mesh. That may not fix the problem but it may make it a little better.

I could get that at autozone correct?

I just wanna try a few things and get some ideas before i have to drop the tranny and replace a clutch. Cuz if its a tranny, ill just swap out the whole thing.

He speaks the truth! I had a pretty moderate grind in my tranny and flushed it out a couple times with Honda MTF and it's not done it in over almost two years.

if this is a dseries tranny, i have one at my work. Just needs the input shaft bearing and mainshaft bearings. I have already replaced all the seals including axles seals new t/o bearing etc.. all syncros good no shifting problems at all. I just haven't ordered the bearings yet that are like 100.00 for both. If you want to pay for those bearings I can reassemble it for you and sell it to you for another 100.00. Total being 200.00 for a rebuilt transmission. Its from a ex. Its super clean to. I would though get a new disk though.
