Default Need your help! Idle Problem!

Thanks for looking. Here is my problem. I have a 1998 Acura Integra GSR and when I start it, the car idles up to about 6000 rpms and then goes down to 1500 rpms. Then it continues to go up and come down. I cannot figure out what is wrong. I thought it was a vaccuum leak but everything is connected. Then a friend told me it might be the head gasket so I changed the head gasket. Its still doing it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am also in the New Port Richey so if you live close maybe you can stop by to check it out. Thanks for looking and hope to hear from you soon. Thanks

Have you cleaned out your iacv? It's located behind the intake mani.

Adjusted your throttle screw? TPS getting right voltage? New tb gasket?

holy hell 6K rpm i would not be starting my car again till i find out what this problem is,your going to burn up your bearings and oil pump...first thing i would try like above Unplug your idle controll then start up the car and see what happens, does sound like it pull in to much air plus make sure your throttle body is clean and closeing correct..

this is the part you should unplug

We had the problem on a b20..It ended up being the air boost valve on the intake manifold... Unplugged that and we got a steady idle.. seems to be a problem alot I had it on my b18 on my crx. Its the little round thing above the throttle cable.. Im not sure if the newer motors have it..but if you do.. try it..if not G/L

Thanks for all the replys. I checked the IACV with a friends of mine and it still happened. I checked the throttle body and sensors with a friends and it still made it have idle problems.

The only thing I think it could be is the fuel regulator. I have a B&M fuel regulator and I heard that they go quickly. Do you think it might be the fuel regulator? Again, Thanks for all the information you guys have given me.

air boost valve?....wow tho you have got a bad vac leak somewher but i dont know how it can go that high then back down...even when you unpluged the idleControl and started it up it still went to 6K if so then check your injector seals, your brake booster valve,Make sure all the hoses are on there cause thats scary to me

Whats the air boost valve? I dont know exactly where it is and I tried to look it up but came up with nothing. I have a Skunk2 intake manifold on there. Is it the plug in the middle of the intake?

on most stock b series intake manifold it would be a circular attatchment on the front of the intake manifold..I didn't know you had a skunk 2 intake manifold..They don't use the air boost valve..so that couldn't be your problem

If it was your regulator it would just get to little or too much fuel and not enough or too much air and the motor would just bog down and shut off.
