Default What's Fastest Engine + Auto Tranny Combo In '98 Civic LX

Hey I'm new to the racing scene and don't know much about engines so I was wondering whats a quick engine that I could use with an auto tranny (not ready to switch to manual till my next car) in my brothers stock 1998 civic LX. My friend told me an LS motor + tranny is the fastest automatic i can get, truth or?

Also could I get a price estimate of the motor and tranny?

I suppose you can put an automatic LS tranny on a Type R that probably the fastest/easiest combo.

^ but expensive..but any b series with an ls tranny would work..obviously that would be the fastest but most expensive too...b20 would work or gsr or lsvtec..i wouldnt do a b16 but it could be done as well

Sure, if you don't like torque..

If you're going with an auto... do a stock LS with a basic bolt-on turbo kit..

the only thing with a ls auto is the wiring the ls auto trans uses a tcm to shift. the civic isnt wired for it. i didnt use it in mine. i just drop it in drive and shift it with switches. it works like a manual and you can redline all the gears.

Wait so there's no way I can put in an LS tranny in the civic without that semi-manual way of driving? Anyone confirm this?
