turbo b16 reliability

Default turbo b16 reliability

i have a b16 ek coupe thinking of posibly turbo charging it, but i drive this car daily, if i redo my bottomw end and possible top end is it possible to make this a daily driver, would be interested in 6-8 lbs of boost
think its possible?

yeah, its possible and like nisson93 said do it right and use good parts. you will need to do more maintenance than with a stock car, plus get ready to deal with a lot of little issues that will pop up from time to time.

You can do 6lbs - 8lbs on the stock bottom end given the compression and leakdown turns up good numbers. And everything is done right (parts, install, tune, etc)

I am running a stock block B16 with 10 psi of 57 trim boost. I chipped and tuned the engine myself with a WB. You do not need to build the bottom end if running less then 10 psi, but you need to install ARP head studs for the top end. To make it reliable you have to get all the issues of piping correct, thats where you will have the most issues. I only use cast manifolds due to cracking issues, but I do port the manifold and port match. Stay away from SSAC for anything other then fmic's.

i think this will be to much to keep up but what kind of times may this put down? thats the main focus

there are a lot of variables involved, but running 8psi should at least put you into the mid to low 13's.

you cant really say what times are you going to run beacuse dependin on the driver tires ECT... its a broad question.

if you decide to rebuild it bottomend wise get some pistons ,nice rods,and some arp on that bottomend and it should hold 1 bar easyly with the right tune !!
