I've got a b18c1 in my hatchback, and my vtec doesn't work anymore.. I'm pretty sure its the vtec solenoid that is shot, or needs cleaning or w/e that needs to be done. Can someone let me know how much this may cost? I'm not too familar when it comes to this work as well, so if anyone knows how to work on the vtec solenoid, please pm me.

first thing check your oil cause vtec wont work if u are low on oil, and are u getting a CEL for vtec solenoid?

my oil level is fine, its where it should be. No, I'm not getting any CEL's..

well there is a screen inside the vtec solinoid, take it apart and clean the screen then reinstall. Im pretty sure if the vtec soelinoid was bad it would throw a CEL

well the symptom is pretty straight forward, lol. Vtec just doesn't want to engage what so ever... And yes, i do have the right amount of vtec fluid

like others have stated, if u are gettin no CEL, then VTEC solenoid valve and pressure switch are working. even a clogged VTEC screen filter would cause the CEL to light up. last would be sufficient oil pressure and a working ECM.

i'm not tryin to be an ass but being as specific as u can helps to bring the right answer out.
