Default brake lights on and wont shut off??????

My brake lights were off when I left my friends house in his car...well when we got back the brake lights were on and nobody touched the car. We had no idea why it did this so we tried to reset the ecu...nothing, tried unplugging the battery...nothing, tried jiggling the pedal and driving and smashing the brake...nothing. The brake fluid is filled and I didn't see any leak from the brakes anywhere. Anyone know why this is?

Will do tomorrow...just looking for new ideas for tomorrow morning to try to fix...I just don't see how the switch went bad without anyone touching it.

Hey it was the rubber thing that goes into the break pedal and pushes the switch to turn the lights off. Does anyone have a part number or anything for this piece so I can buy a new one for the auto parts store?

Carry the old one in to a-parts store. They have a section of red bubble packs called "help". Pep Boys has the biggest section I have seen.

It will probably be there. Another solution is to epoxy a coin over where the rubber was.-Bob

epoxying a coin can come off. a short bolt with a nut on the other side is permanently held in there . its something i do on all the hondas ive bought just out of spite.
