Default DIY Black OEM Muffler

I bought a used OEM RSX muffler off a someone thinking it was going to be the 05-06 black muffler...no dice, it was a 02-04...no biggie. Time for a DIY!

Supplies needed:

- Sandpaper
- Rattle can 500 degree+ paint
- Soap & Water + Brush
- 2 hours of time

The sandpaper was an assortment pack, I only used the 320 & 400 grit. Rattle can was Semi Gloss black...choose whichever black you'd like. As you can see, the muffler itself was pretty dirty but in great shape so I went to work with the soap and brush (soap solution was simple green) then broke out the 320 grit and wetsanded it down.

First pass (320 grit)...

After that, cleaned it up with the soap and water and broke out the 400 grit...

By this point, I was wondering how this thing would look if i just went for broke and polished it. Naw.

Check out my little helper in the background

Time to rattle can this bitch. Just as the can says, two light layers with 10 mins of dry time between each then a final medium coat.

First coat:

Second coat:

Third & final coat. I went for fucking broke, used almost the rest of the can lol.

All in all it came out fantastic. No runs and I got just the amount of shine I wanted out of it.

All done!

For 2 hours and approx 8 bucks I definitely give this a

I don't think that's true...the 05-06's use an exhaust flap that opens at a certain RPM. quieter down low, better flowing up top.

trust me though, for the car this muffler is going on...it won't matter. lol
