like title says, will a I/M of a z6 fit a z1 engine.

try it...I would think so...the only IM's I thought (wouldn't) fit was:
84-87 ew
86-89 D16A1(dohc)
dohc zc's
as far as d series goes...
I know that the exaust side is the same with those dohc d series I listed..your talking bout the D15Z1...
u should be ok...lmk

yeah, dohc D series have a completely diff bolt patern, but i think all sohc D series are the same

they do...sohc d series from 88-00 are the same I belive...the bolt patterns on a dohc d series is the same as the sohc on the exaust side...not intake as far as I rem.

thanks guys, is that my z6 bottom is messed up so i bought a vx engine to put in my hatch for now into i can put a dohc

I forgot wether the z1 is obd1...it is...right...if so ..u should be able to do that..sometimes the dizzy bolt patterns differ...oh do you have any use for a mint AEM tru time adjustable cam gear? and I need obd1 stuff...for my vtec build...

here's the diff. .
the top is a Y8, and the bottom is a dohc ZC
and yeah, as far as the exh., all the d's have the same bolt patern, but you can run into agle problems under the car because of the angle that some motor's are mounted. like if you put a header from an EF on a 1st gen teg, it will be pointing up into the floor of the car, or if you do it the other way around, it will be pointing towrds the ground. lol
