ok so i am going to sue and report the guy who took my engine out and he was supposed to put it in but did not.... he says that for taking out a motor he charges 500 dollars i wanted to see how much these local shops charge for just taking out a motor... a d15b1....let me know

 

anyone with a engine lift and common mechanic knowledge can pull an engine out....around 5-10 bolts? i belive not to mechanicly inclined myself...But Its not hard and U shudn't be getting charged that.

What is the shops hourly labor rate? If R&R of a honda engine is 10 hours book time, he can legally get away with charging you half of that for just pulling the motor, so lets say 5 hours. If his posted labor rate is $100 an hour then it is justified. It all depends on what was agreed upon before the work started.

$500 is definitely alot for pulling a honda engine, I used to charge about $500-600 for a motor swap. If a customer bailed on the job after I pulled the engine I would definitely charge $300 for time spent and also any bit of my time that was wasted.

well he did the whole swap for 500 and a brand new xbox 360 and i left him after he didnt do the job in two months..... he only returned 300 i asked him to reurn the xbo and he said no that he usually charges 500 to pull engines out

 

what shop is this put his ass on blast so nobody goes there so he pulled it out and the he still has the motor and u have the car with no motor and he got ur xbox

 

I would like to hear from both parties. KJ is right though. $500.00 - $600.00 for a swap (pull out put in) depending on a couple things

 

man you sure are having a lot of problems with cars these days. sorry to hear your mis-fortune. so if he charged you $500 to pull will there be additional charges to put it back in?

 

this sounds more like a kid then a shop owner...who takes 500dollars and a xbox as payment..?
