Default 17mm - 22mm 15mm stock

Iam just curious but what does the size in the rear sway bar do? Stock my rear sway bar is 17mm. They have optional ones from other brands the one from comptech is 19mm then the nuesspeed one is 22mm. What are the downsides of having a super thick sway bar as to having a 19mm one? Stiffer rear end corning etc..? ..

I'm running the Comptech 22mm on my Accord and I saw a difference instantly.
There seems to be less body roll around turns and if you loose traction in the rear, The bar will make the car recover faster.

I had a Cusco front lower bar on my Civic Si and didn't feel any difference.
It did however protect my Oil Pan once from a wooden block
Bent the bar a smidgen and chipped the paint.

I would think you'd see more of a difference with a strut tower bar then the front lower Tie.

the bigger size of the sway helps reduce understeer.

as a reference, stock gsr sway bar is 14mm. usdm itr sway bar is 22mm and jdm itr is 23mm. big size difference.

I install anti-sway bars for people to help their cornering.
Front or rear, it changes the handling characteristics to suit the driver.
The idea is not to have a "mines bigger than yours" attitude,
but to make the car stick to the road better.

I make brackets for people to install double sway bars on some cars,
and I am running a couple 20mm's on the front at the same time.

When I finish my design for double rear sway bars, I will be going to two 22's on the front. Junkyard "stock" bars are cheap compared to aftermarket, and do the same thing...........and some "stock" bars are better than others......................but spend a litle time measuring them.

When a person lowers their car, it changes some s-bar alignments,
so I make brackets to compensate for that, so the bar works as designed.
I have also found some interchangeability, example, some prelude bars will do wonders on an Accord, and I often do what some people say "can't be done".-Bob

As far as those aftermarket bars, it also depends on your strut-spring/ coil-over set up. The rear (anti)sway bar will stiffen up the side-to-side of the ass end and give you a bit of oversteer. If you put an overly stiff bar on a soft damper and spring you will get too much oversteer. Also, if you have adjustable dampining coil-overs you might want to look for an adjustable sway bar- i know they have them for tegs.

Ahhh. Adjustable sway bars. Keep it quiet, but almost any sway bar can be made adjustable. I have done a few.-Bob
