And yet another problem with the GS-R
Okay so I fixed the idling problem yesterday and now I have a new problem. VTEC is not activating at all. I check the solenoid wires, they were spliced but are connected, the ECU is the stock OBD-1 P72 that came with the car (1994 GS-R) and hasn't even been taken out or tampered with, I changed the oil and put a new filter and 4 quarts in, and I even took off the solenoid to make sure oil was getting to it and cleaned out the filters in it. After all that, VTEC still was not hitting at all because when you're going over 5000 RPM's the car just feels like it doesn't want to go any faster when you try to push it to 7000 RPM's and you don't here the VTEC crossover either. I was told that the solenoid could be bad, but before I go out to get a new one I wanted to check with you guys first. Again, any help/advice is appreciated and thanks in advance.

Okay, I got a test wire, but which terminal on the battery do I connect it to? Red or black? And, when you mean the solenoid, you mean the cylinder that has one wire connecting to it not the green plug correct? Also, I have a solenoid from a B16 that i was thinking replacing the old one with, it should fit on it right? If the car doesn't bog down or doesn't do anything what does that mean? Thanks again for the help.

i believe its the red and yes the round thing with one wire do it quickly and if it dosent bog then the solonoid is bad

I have a speed sensor, yes. About the CEL, I just found out that the light bulb burnt out because out of curiosity I took out the gauge cluster and wanted to check the bulbs just in case and it turns out the CEL bulb was indeed burnt. I've taken the car to Autozone and Discount Auto and neither places do OBD-1 cars (1994 GS-R). Took it to Goodyear and they want $49.99; of course I declined. I'm gonna try the "paper clip method" from Vega's site see if that works and if it is a 'Code 21' and maybe other codes. Thanks for everyone's help.
