Default boiling coolant...question

i searched other overheating threads and couldnt find similar thread..

i just finished my ls/vtec.. runs strong pulls and vtec works great..

have no oil leaks and no coolant leaks. only 1 fan kicks on, cuz i removed AC

problem is after running for 30 mins or , the overfill coolant tank starts BOILING and smoking.. but the temp gauge still shows little below half..

so it seems that the engine is not overheating, but it boils the coolant/water in the overfill..

could this be from routing the flow of coolant wrong.. i ran new water hoses from intake to block and back, but im not sure the there routed correctly...

Thanks for the help

Try a new radiator cap.

Do you still have the thin single core radiator in there? How old is the cap? Just because your needle hasnt moved doesnt mean your not overheating. They usually don't budge until 240F. And was it properly bled?

When you bleed it jack the front end of the car up. Take the radiator cap off. Run the car for about twenty minutes like that. Lower the car. Run it for five minutes

all good advice, but if you were changing/messing with hoses, and as you say, you are not sure if they are right, it could be your thermo bypass hose is not routed correctly. You stated you ran a hose from intake to block? There should be one hose that runs from the water pump side of the thermostat housing up to the head at the larger water tube on the intake manifold. It circulates water between pump and head until the thermostat opens and the entire system circulates.
