Default Does anyone here have a cold air intake box....

Similiar to this application :

or does everyone just have the regular straight pipe like this:

Also is there any difference in the performance in these 2 or would both basically perform the same way......

that one kinda resembles the stock one...cept its prolly got a cone filter in it. the only advantage of a cone filter is that u draw air in from 360 degrees. i believe comptech makes something like that for tegs.

that is the comptech icebox..... they claim to be "hydrolock" proof but still have the advantages of a regular straight cold air intake......

I have a cold air box in conjunction with my cowl induction
and 351 Cubic inch police interceptor air filter. You can see it at the Honda/Acura meet at Phillipe Park on Sunday.

A cold air box definitely keeps the heat out of your intake.
Cold air produces more power when the gas is ignited in the engine.

I build ducting and cold air boxes, and design them in a different manner than the "bolt-on" trendy stuff, however............. -Bob

ya i made a kinda heat shield for my intake out of a battery box that i took a dremel to. i also made a ram air inlet that sits in the front bumper n takes in air to the filter from the top half of a stock air box. but....on another note, the air box does allow u take in cooler air, however the intake manifold is still hot, so the air is re heated (but not as hot as it would b w.o the air box). id say the best way to cool the air down is to get one of those heat shield gaskets from hondata or password jdm.

The gasket from hondata is great...that coupled with the intake box would probably yield the coolest intake air possible without cryo2 or nitrous.
