none. stock motors won't be helped by cam timing. 2" exhaust and intake don't constitute the use of adjustable cam timing.

Maybe, just maybe, you can get just a smidgen more power than the other guy by increasing valve overlap by 1-2 degrees each way, and still not have the valves touch the pistons. The usual disclaimers apply,
and I would check all my clearances BEFORE I do a final assenbly
of my motor.-Bob

u are wrong on the stock motor not getting any benifit from timing. i did it on my ls swapped del sol. internally stock with header intake and exhaust, i slapped some cam gears on and set them the way a friend of myne told me to. hes a local tampa guy that chips ecus n stuff (his name is kenji if u have ever heard of him). any ways, i set the gears at +2 on the intake and -1 on the exhaust, set the dizzy to 18 degrees of timing and put premium in a stock ls motor, and the car woke up. it wasnt like spraying or boosting, but it was a notable difference throughout the whole rpm range. id say, go to his site Kenji's ECUs and Conversion Harnesses and send him a message askin him what he recomends (im not familiar with single cams enough to tell u). if anything, u may want to get a header and a bigger exhaust first, but ull still benifit from the timing. granted, bigger cams, more mods, and a better tune would help in these benifits from timing, but saying that stock motors dont benifit at all is a lil overboard. a little more over lap is better than none. ask around or find a tech book to c where to set the gear, make sure u set the distributor right, and ull notice a difference. good luck and email me if u cant get ahold of kenji, n ill ask him.

you would get more hp if you took off the headers and installed just one header. I also would not mess with it unless you had cams.

its a single cam...so it needs a cam. but ur rite, with a bigger cam he would get more power, but u can still get a lil bit from stock cams.

dude its a single cam, and he didn't ask about ignition timeing. and a ls motor is more performance oriented than a sohc. wow.
