it works fine if you have the right size pole. used the pole from a jack on mine, worked perfect. the tire will not allow the pole to push your fender out as long as they aren't over inflated.

my friend has a 2.25 drop all around on his teg with 17s and no problem, we put them on mine and i have a civic eg with a 2.5 drop all around and i had no rubbing just some camber where from not having a front camber, so unless your going to go drastically with a a 3 inch drop by slicing your springs i wouldnt worry

The only reason to go to 17's would be if you put on super low profile tires, and you want the total tire height to stay the same.
Otherwise, the car can be lowered with smaller rims, and less
tire clearance hassle.
I lower cars with OEM springs and stock adjusters, and people keep their original size rims. I know how to calculate ride height and do alignments
