Default What would removing the coolant lines from the iacv do?

Im working on the intake manifold on my hatch, and i was just wondering what would happen if i bypassed the coolant lines that went thru the iacv

Edit... found this Honda-Tech.com: Honda Civic/Del Sol (1992 - 2000): Did anyone try Throttle Body/Intake Manifold Coolant Bypass??

Your car would constantly idle between 2k and 1k

well the coolant tempature would determine the amount of bypassing air in the iacv. If your bypassing this you would probably be a consistant fast idle or higher then normal idle speeds. Iam just guessing thats what would happen.

From what i understand the coolant just helps keep the valve from sticking up in cold weather. I dont think it gets cold enough.

That would happen if i removed the whole valve, but i just want to bypass the coolant. It will make the engine bay cleaner. Plus could drop my intake temps a little

It is bypassed on mine and the engine idles fine, hot or cold.

That feature is more for extreme climate.

if you bypass the IACV make a little gasket out of a coke can and put it between the IAC and the intake manifold so that all holes are blocked off.

1. when its cold outside the car idles at between 1500 and 2000 rpm.
2. when its warm outside the car idles fine.
3. florida isnt cold much so the idle will be fine all spring summer and fall.

i did this on mine because my block doesnt have a return line for the IAC cause of the dpfi to mpfi swap.
