Default Looking to gain a few hp

I have a 97 integra GS non-vtec and am looking to gain a few HP, but nothing substantial like a turbo or engine rebuild. The car is currently lowered with a cold air intake, other than that it is stock.

Any idea on small things i could do to boost the HP without throwing a ton of money into it?

thanks in advance.

nitrous. Spend 250 bucks on a used dry kit and have 50hp and still have it safe and reliable. It doesn't get much cheaper than that

The very very first step! think about how nice your car is, vs how much you'd prefer a newer, or cooler one. now that that's over and your stuck on making your car go faster... here are some tips

1. don't suck up water with your cold air intake, if you have a by-pass valve installed so that you don't suck up water... cut that bitch off and make it a short ram intake.

2. research flow velocity and how it's important to exhaust gas expulsion

3. order a header, a test pipe and and cat back exhaust system with a diameter that suits your flow needs.

4. read about how nitrous works and how it can blow you up, but more inportantly how to not blow your self up.

5. buy nitrous kit and go fast...err faster

I'm surprised you were able to get out the store with that big "SUCKER" sign affixed to your back.

i think this..either go all the way or dont go at all...spending $X for only a few whp is pointless and u wont be happy..ULL ALWAYS WANT MORE!...so what i would do if i was u..(cuz u make me think ur new to this and dont know much no offense and ur scared to hurt ur car)..do as much research as possible...and try to make sure its up to date research..i love finding old 2002 posts about ls/vtecs and how full of shit they are and how they know absolutely nothing about them but swear they do...or turbo etc..we know A LOT more today then yesterday so find the newest info possible and try to overshoot urself a lil bit..say if 300whp sounds good..go for 350-400..u wont stop wantin more once u get comfortable..and do it right the first time..as soon as my turbo crx is done..ill have spent about 7000 on it..and all ill have is a lsvtec forged pistons/rods turbo'd for around 350whp..when i could of had that a LONG time ago if i would of went that route the first time...instead of b16a to high comp lsvtec that broke(150 miles)..then high comp lsvtec that worked(thanks 2nrwerks)..then gsr fully built broken bottom end...to now a low comp lsvtec turbo(thanks again 2nrwerks)...just plan for more then u think u want..thats all im tryin to say..ull save ur self the most money/time this way...
